I am okay with the Super Gayness of Adam Lambert

While on vacation I heard about the “controversial” Adam Lambert performance where he try humped everything in site, attempted to blow every inanimate object within 50 yards, and made out with a keyboardist. The next morning Good Morning America pulled the plug on his appearance because they were afraid of what he might do. Making him the first person ever to have a talk show invite pulled because he might just be too gay for the crowd.

While I don’t like his music, dislike American Idol, and in general ignore most pop music I have to say that I am okay with the whole Adam Lambert is super gay thing, in fact it entertains me. Lambert is doing what Clay Aiken should have done. Instead of having to deal with the “is he gay or isn’t he” question over and over like Aiken did Lambert pretty much grabbed the cock by the base and said, “I like dick.” (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) He isn’t ashamed of who he is and that should be commended.

Aiken didn’t let everyone know that he enjoyed balls bouncing of his chin until it became a running joke and I think that is severely hampered his career. I imagine he didn’t come out of the closet for marketing purposes, well… until he came out of the closet for marketing purposes. The fact that fat, partially retarded, Middle American women were his core audience told Aiken that maybe he should keep his love for all things Liberace to himself. But really, if people were going to hate him because he was gay wouldn’t they just hedge their bets and hate him if there was a question about his sexuality?

Lambert went the opposite route and embracing his love for reach arounds. He put everything out on the table in an attempt for people to embrace him for his music and not make it about his sexuality…. Oh wait, I mean he put everything out on the table in order to make people feel uncomfortable, talk about what he had done, and know that he had a new album coming out.

I guess self-promotional whores are self promotional whores no matter what their sexual preference. He isn’t really a trailblazer as much as a flat out capitalist.

Even though I am secretly waiting for a glitter accident to blind Lambert making him go away forever I appreciate what he is doing. For years doing something slutty and controversial has been left up to Madonna who essentially has become a middle aged gay man to go along with her audience (look at her build and really gay English accent). She is old and tired so it is okay that a new generation takes over for her. We are now in the hands of Lady GaGa (who may or may not have a cock) and Adam Lambert…  I’m pretty excited to see where this is going and the level of general uncomfortableness we go through as a nation as they try to on up each other in the awkwardness scale. At some point as Adam needs to be more controversial in order to garner attention are we going to be desensitized to it?

Person 1: “Did you see in the National Enquirer a guy is suing Adam Lambert because he gave him a mushroom tattoo during his VMA performance?”

Person 2: “Meh… It was nothing compared to when he shit a gerbil out during the People’s Choice awards.”

Adam we get that you are gay and that is totally fine. (It isn’t something that needs to be hidden.) If you want to make out with a guy on stage I’m cool with that as well. But please, don’t act like you are doing anything to represent a strong gay male breaking away and taking a stand. Just admit you are a a cheap attention whore trying to pimp your crappy album.
