Your Dignity: 1970-2009

By: donkeysosa on 05/5/09 @ 8:30 am

Can someone please explain to me the recent explosion in popularity of memorial window stickers on cars?  It used to be that these only appeared on gangbangers cars.  You’d be cruising down the street when up ahead you would spot the following sticker, written in Olde English font, on the back of a lowered 82 Datsun:

In Memory of

LiL Pac

1984-2002

“Don’t Hate the Playa, Hate the Gizzame”

Damn that was some funny shit to see on a sunny Saturday afternoon, wasn’t it?  Still is.  Problem is, now these stickers are EVERYWHERE.  You can’t escape them.

As it turns out, Ricky wasn’t Army Strong (look carefully)

The memorial window sticker craze gives rise to a few pertinent questions.

1. WTF?  Other than to bum out all of us complete strangers and serve as a constant, depressing reminder to yourself and your loved ones that someone close to you has died, what exactly is the point of these things?

2. How ironic would it be if you died in a fiery car crash while driving around with that sticker on your car?

3. Are you retarded?

But why stop with announcing the death of your loved ones on your rear window?  Here are some other ideas for you.

  • My Marriage – 1990-2004
  • I Have Crabs
  • I Was Once Accidentally Blown by a Transexual
  • On Several Different Antidepressants Since 1997
  • Have You Ever Thought About How Pointless Life Really Is?
  • Will Someone Please Shoot Me in the Face

Like Shakespeare? Milton? Beef Meximelts? Then DonkeySosa's for you. Donk's brilliant prose has been lighting up the Internets since the 1950s. That's right, the 50s - he's just THAT GOOD folks. Comedic geniuses such as Chris Rock, Dane Cook, and Carrot Top often turn to him for inspiration, and the ladies dig him because his case of micro-phallus makes for great chatter at cocktail parties.

Isn’t the whole point in owning a car was so that you could tell people your opinion in the form of bumper stickers and decals? Also to let everyone know that your kid is an honor student.

Seems like some pretty low-rent stuff going on there. I haven’t seen it, but I’ll bet if I venture over to Oakland or San Jose I’d see ‘em. Then I would point and snicker.

Now that is just bragging since it was undoubtedly the best BJ of your life. Any motivated man can give a much better bj than any woman and we all know that…even Samantha on Sex in the City.

Why stop with the “In Memory Of”…Chances are that most people that have these on their cars will also have those little people in a row that represent their families. Why not just mark an X over the person who passed away with the year of death. Now THATS class.

You know what I think is even more retarded and redneck than this? How about decals of the drivers name on the drivers door and his girlfriends name decal on her side. Let me add some more since I currently live in the south and see a lot of stupid decals

John Deer decals…so they pay you to endorse them?

    Flip-flop decals…yeah, wtf?

Imports with all the stupid stickers of the brands they are using. Again, do they pay you?

Mexicans with their family names in huge old English letters across their windshield.

…and all the other stupid vinyl stickers all over the back of your cars…

I haven’t seen those, they have yet to catch on in the UK.
But yesterday I saw a truck with “Get revenge: Shit on pigeons”. That, I liked.

  12. A pleasure to come to your site. Thnks very much!

I am ordering a window sticker in memory of my son who drowned at last summer at the age of 20. I am doing it because I want to and I really don’t give a rat’s a** whether you or anyone else likes it or not. If you don’t like them, look the other way.

  14. Cathy M. says:

I was so pleased to come across this post! I was just b*tching about seeing these all over where I live (east San Diego county) lately and they are so pointless. As for the person whose son drowned – I’m very sorry for your loss, but wouldn’t (and isn’t) a more permanent memorial such as a marble headstone a lot more fitting than a cheap window decal that YOU never see (but the rest of us do, and we didn’t know your son or loved one at all) because it’s on the BACK of your car? If that’s the best my family can do for me when I’m gone, I hope they don’t bother.
