I asked is it overrated thus the question mark on the title. I like a lot of British comedy but totally thought Little Britain was horrible.

It wasn't a contradiction, it is a little thing call context.

The first few series of Little Britain are comedy gold, if not a little bizzare at times.

Quite predictably, the show became insipid as soon as they slapped the suffix 'USA' on the end; I seriously don't think it's worth trying to translate British shows for the majority of an American audience.

If you haven't already; make it your duty to watch every episode of Blackadder with the exception of season one. If British comedy is your thing then you're bound to fall in love with this show.

Cheers.

You say you think British comedy is overrated but then contradict yourself by praising Eddie Izzard, Stephen Merchant, Sacha Baron Cohen for the Ali G Show, which was genius and Monty Python for half their work, obviously not everything they do is going to be hilarious by The Life of Brian, The Holy Grail and A Fish Called Wanda were all classic comedy films, not bad really is it? Of course some of their sketches are dated. Then you list Little Britain, Russell Brand and Mr.Bean as poor comedy, well I hate to tell you but in many quarters they were heavily disliked over here so maybe the problem is American producers finding the comedy we dont even like funny.

If you want good British comedy here is a list of shows you can enjoy and not complain about. Peep Show, Green Wing, Father Ted, Blackadder and Only Fools and Horses. Why these classics have not been popular over the water is beyond me, maybe the problem is over there perhaps? Check this comedy gold out and tell me its not funny.

I'm British and Little Britain USA is bad ( not without some funny moments however). But Little Britain (the first few series') is good, so not really a relfection on British humour. Russell Brand is shit and a waste of space. Jonathan Ross is also a talentless shit. Alan Carr is the best out there. :)

man we frankly blow the socks off of the rest of the world when it come to comedy. but then i would imagine most americans think that about america and the french about france. Garth Meranghi's darkplace is sheer genius, the office untoucable (I saw your version :/) we also made black books, peepshow, the life of brian, da Ali G show, spaced, shaun of the dead + hot fuzz, popworld when Simon Amstell did it, the Fast Show, then theres the Two Ronnies + Morecombe and Wise for your oldies, Frankie Boyle (look him up), Dylan Moran, David Doherty and Stewart Lee for your stand ups, to name a few. What you've listed is very narrow and not a true or fair reflection of British comedy. It's like us saying "America's stupid, they made Friends, Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler" though I did read the rather unfortunate list that made up the 5 movies that influenced you most and the statement that Eddie Izzard is the funniest British person alive makes me devalue your opinion on anything funny. I mightgander ound your site to see if you are but I amn't holding my breath
I do apoligise for Mr Bean and in particular Little Britain. You're lucky you didn't get Bo' Selecta (a few gems in a pool of shit isn't worth it)

Little Britain USA is godawful. I literally don't think I laughed even once, and I gave it a shot with 3 episodes thinking maybe they'd find their way. Now I think I will watch them all because it's like a gory car wreck and I can't look away. But the overriding question I have is, who is this show written for? americans? british? do they really think saying all americans are fat and stupid over and over is funny? to who? I don't know... I would be shocked if they renew this abortion.
