The Obligatory Pardon This Mess Post

I hate when people are redoing their site and write a post telling you that they are redoing their site. It is kind of insulting to the intelligence of the average everyday person that reads the site. Obviously they know the site looks different, you don’t need to tell them that it looks different. Although knowing the amount of illegal narcotics the average reader here consumes you will probably awake from your stupor like three months from now and just notice that the site changed. So maybe it is good that I write this.

Also I just wanted to give you all a quick tour, explain some of the new shiny toys, and allow you all to commence bitching about what you don’t like. (Although showering me with praise and topless photos of Nell Carter are completely acceptable.)

Front Page (you know pointlessbanter.net)

Quote Box- Next to the title is a little quote thing that I can change whenever I feel like it. I might use a comment from one of you, I might use a line from a post, or I might use poetry written in iambic pentameter…. I guess the point is you never know.

Featured Video- It is a video that is being featured… Somethings shouldn’t need explanation.

The tabbed box- A new fancy tool that has the following things:

• Today’s Banter- The latest post, if you want to see the other latest posts there is a list on the right hand side of the front page.

• Popular Posts- Some strange formula of comments, views, and walls punched.

• Recent Videos- The latest videos in one easy to find place with a comment count included.

• Recent Comments- See the latest smart ass remarks left by the people that read this shit.

On the front page there is also a “Featured Crap of the week” section that will have recent blog posts that I want to feature. In the middle are the latest posts in some of the main categories I write about.

Um other than that there is a new archive page (which makes thumbing through past posts a little easier) and the rest of those pages on the top will be updated in the next week or so.

As for commenting… the reply feature will be back up this morning. If you want your image to appear in the comments you have to use gravatar.com, it is free to setup. I changed from the system I was using before because to often people were showing up as other random people.

And finally huge buttons letting you know you should share any of my posts if you like them. Find a post funny? You can e-mail it to people from here, post it on myspace or facebook, or vote for it on reddit and/or digg. If you have stumbleupon you can just use the toolbar in your browser. You should be signed up for these services if only for the sole reason of whoring my shit out so I can take over the world and nuke Long Island… oh and sharing important news with the rest of the world (and really sharing is caring). I get messages from people asking me if they can link to posts or e-mail them, please use these buttons to spread the word. The only thing I wouldn’t want you to do is copy the post and put it into your own blog.
