The Lessons From This Past Semester
I finally got my grades from the last semester so I can sum up some of my thoughts and the lessons I have learned in my second to last semester of school.
1) Think before speaking
After watching “Norma Rae” in my politics in film class the professor asked what we thought about the film. As usual most people were slow to break the ice and share their opinion, so my dumbass raised my hand and said, “I really could care less about the plot, Sally Field was the hottest women on the planet back then and I am pretty mad we didn’t see the goods in the skinny dipping scene.”
How I got an A in that class after making that comment I have no idea.
2) Wait until AFTER you get your grade to piss off your professor
I had a class that was about history research and was really an utter and complete waste of time. The problem with the class besides the outlandish amount of work was that the lectures and discussions for the most part were pointless. Here are some of the highlights:
-A twenty minute discussion on how one student didn’t understand the difference between endnotes and footnotes. TWENTY MINUTES….
-A lecture on the difference between a University and a College, I shit you not they spent a whole class talking about this.
-Another lecture on the difference between a University Press and a regular publisher.
Basically I didn’t attend class all that much but always handed my work in on time and got really good grades. The Professor though asked me to come to his office hours one day and explain why I didn’t attend class. I told him that there wasn’t an attendance policy and basically I could find better things to do with that hour of my time, I wasn’t learning anything and it really was an hour of me sitting there and staring at my watch. He then launched into a rant how I was ruining all the other student’s educational experience because I wasn’t there to participate in discussion, thus cheapening what they learn.
Of course my big mouth had to open and say, “I didn’t know it was my job to teach them, if you want to pay me to come to class that is fine. But until I get paid my classmates educational experience isn’t my concern.” BIG MISTAKE
My grades went from being all As to Cs for rest of the semester and I ended up with the B in the class, the fucker screwed me over.
So those were my two major lessons that I learned from this semester, what were lessons that you have learned from school?

I learned many things when going to university. Like, the more you drink the higher your achohol tolerace gets. I learned if you stayed up really late, doing a paper the last minute, you might as well not go to sleep at all. I learned to never take a language class, like latin, miss three days and come back… you have no idea what they are doing and no way in hell of catching up. Actually, I learned not to take Latin. I learned that even with sunglasses on, not to fall asleep in class… people know, your head does the nod and jerk.
