Offensive Children’s Games
We now life in a politically correct society, however when we were children there were games that we played that were really politically incorrect, possibly even downright offensive.
“Smear the Queer”

Synopsis: You would throw a football in the air and whomever caught the ball was viscously gang tackled. The entire point was to run for safety and not get any bones broken.
Offensive ?: The name alone is offensive but when you think about it isn’t it sort of gay to have a bunch of boys piling onto each other? The irony is rich. It is a little known fact but this game is played throughout the world but with slightly different titles.
Cuba: Smear the Capitalist Pig
Middle East: Smear the Zionist
Alabama: Smear the evolutionist
Prison: Smear the frail white guy who is going to be my bitch.
“Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego”

Synopsis: Renowned Hispanic thief Carmen Sandiego is tracked down by the player through various clues left through the United States.
Offensive?: Think about this Carmen, an illegal immigrant thief, is being tracked by the player through the United States. Are you really a detective or INS? How come you always catch Carmen in states with large agricultural communities? Rumor has it the original title of the game was “watch the wetback” but they felt they couldn’t sell it to schools with that name.
“Cooties”

Synopsis: The players roll the dice and get to add parts to the their cooties bug until it is complete.
Offensive?: It isn’t offensive really but it helps continue to perpetuate the myth of cooties with the kids today.

“Operation”

Synopsis: Players operate on the subject in the game while trying to be precise and not touching the sides of the hole they are pulling the organ out of.
Offensive?: It’s always a fat white guy on the table. Creating the myth that it is only fat white guys that need major medical attention. They couldn’t throw in a Samoan guy here or there?
What games did you like to play as a kid offensive or not?
